So I'm curious as to whether anyone has used the Hyperlink and the Chrono V2, particularly 12m Hyperlink and 13m Chrono. It seems strange that Ozone are claiming a better low end for the 12m Hyperlink than the 13m Chrono V2, considering the Chrono has an incredible low end. In fact the Hyperlink, if you are to believe Ozone, is basically perfect and kind of makes the Chrono almost redundant...

Medium aspect ratio is a good feature for hyper light wind (In the sense of waterstart and reaching planning limit ). Hard to believe by some of hydrofoilers here that have not tested medium Aspect ratio kites like Hyperlink or Pulsion, but I experienced it clearly. But then as soon as the planning can be reached with a chrono (it needs a bit more wind), chrono will ride faster than Hyperlink. IMO the only limiting factor on the HL is its weight (until if they propose an Ultralight version).
It will be the same conclusion with a big slow TT if the TT has good upwind ability like flyrace or flydoor or Spleen door . Sooner planning but slower if enough wind for both kites to ride.

Interesting - thanks for that. Looks like the Chrono is still the best option for me for light wind on water.

You may consider what kind of riding you plan on doing with this kite. Low end will be quite similar unless you get UL version of chrono. Chrono should give you more top end speed and slightly better upwind/downwind, perhaps more hang time. HL is better for fun riding, turns and jumps with almost foolproof handling.
I used 11m Sonic before replacing it with HL 12m. Riding toe side or doing anything resembling S turns for fun felt weird on Sonic. I think this will be similar with Chrono 2. HL is better suited for this.

Good question
andylc and agree with
borist post.
I initially bought the 18m Chrono V1 as a light wind kite which has worked out perfectly for me and subsequently buying a 12m and the 9m for higher winds. These are considered as race kites and do what they were designed to do. However, this season I have moved to a skimboard (Non kite specific skimboard) no straps or fins, certainly a lot of fun and still leaning to master it. Using my Chrono’s work ok but think I would benefit in using a kite that’s slower and not race ordinated, so I’m considering the Hyperlink as it's lower aspect and may be better for my needs.
As a starting point I’m considering the 12m HL but yet to take the plunge

I have a Chrono V2 13m for light winds. Yesterday I was the only one managing to get going in 6-8 knot winds, either with a big twin tip or with a strapless surfboard. I like the speed you can get with the Chrono and the jumps are ridiculous. I can't imagine the Hyperlink having a better low end, and in terms of handling the Chrono is impeccable, so it's probably still the better option for me I guess. As a mainly LEI rider I still find it disconcerting when it flies straight almost straight over my head, but that's only because I instinctively think it's going to drop out of the sky, which of course it doesn't.

Just a thought, if the 12m HL has a higher projected area than your Chrono V2 13m would that produce a better low end. ?

They're both fairly flat so I doubt much to choose in projected vs flat surface area.

Anyone know the Projected area of the Hyperlink? Looking at the AR differences, I'm wondering what the PA is. The attached is the 9m HL on the 9m CHV2.
