Ozone Zephyr V4/v5 reviews ?

Postby early bird2 » Fri Sep 29, 2017 12:50 pm

Hi ! I can't find any reviews that compare the Ozone Zephyr V4 to the new V5 , anyone demoed or owned both and could give me an idea . I can find numerous V4 on the used market and would like to know if this is worth to spend the difference for the V5 ? Thanks for your help !

I tried both back to back many times and for me the old v4 is way better light wind kite!
The new v5 turns faster but has way less power and lighter bar pressure...basically they took out the Edge and put in the Enduro, but the Enduro needs wind to shine so this makes no sense to me. So like i said, for me the V4 is way better! Cheers

Tommy , I appreciate that you share your experience with the Zephyrs , So from what you say it looks like they flattened the new zephyr V5 , so not so much grunt . Makes me think of an Edge 17 , not much grunt and you need to build speed to appreciate the kite . This is sad , because it looks like they reinforced the kite and it turns faster . How many knots did they loose on the low end from your point of view ?

Do you know if there is a V6 coming for 2018 ?

I would say it needs at least 2 knots more wind....actually this is the only Ozone kite i did not like that much, it does not have that perfect Ozone bar feel, the bar pressure is too light and spongy somehow..

As i know Ozone does 2 year models, so i guess V6 coming out 2019.

I'm something more than a total beginner, I bought a Zephyr V5 after used it at school, I find the Zephyr V5 very easy, I have used the same days also comparing it with a Catalyst 14m (2015) and the Zephyr is way more manageable, smooth, stable and easy, I have also a Cat V1 12m and find the Zephyr even better in some aspect, also if the Cat V1 is very easy and stable too!
The Zephyr V5 doesn't feel slow too comparing with the Cat V1 12m

I'm 80kg and with a 141-44 twin tip I can kite from 12/13 knots

I demoed the Zephyr V5 today , wind 8 to 18 knots on a sector 60 , I'm 215 pounds . I really liked the kite , launched in very light wind quite easy , good upwind and drift was good too . Stays in the air very quietly , no flapping .Smooth on the bar at medium setting .It is a little spongy feeling but nothing bad , not a deal breaker for me .
I did not demo a V4 , not available to demo . So I ended up buying the kite since asking price of the used V4 was almost new kite prices . I can't ask for any better for my actual needs .
