Wetsuit Dryer?!

Postby Toby » Sun Oct 01, 2017 2:33 pm

The cold time for the north part of the globe is coming, and with it the wetsuits...

Maybe this tool makes good sense!?

Hanging a "wet" wetsuit on a hanger stretches out the shoulders. Maybe the shorter time duration to dry will not cause any stretch, however, it would be a deal breaker for me. It is a bitch to put on a cold wetsuit in the morning though. That's why I have 2 of the suit I use the most(3/2 full). If it's cold outside, I bring the dry one.

I like this idea but I think 1000W is a bit to much power consumption.
Would like it better if there was just a fan and no heater.
Or Optional.

37C seems a bit high...and it's more expensive then the current ones out there. Air movement matters more then temp anyway for drying stuff out.

I have that one, its Great. My garage is cold in winter so that's really useful.
Also the hanger is pretty thick so I don't think it will stretch Néoprène.

That kickstarter one looks go too, but for my home use leaving it overnight on air only is fine.

I have seen plenty use USB laptop fans and water piping. Have done the same thing to make a boot dryer. Even in the winter my boots dry overnight.

Hang it in a small room with a dehumidifier running. It will be bone dry in a few hours.
btw this works great for your harness, boots/mitts/hood and kites.

You'll be amazed how much water they pull out of everything.

I hang my wetsuit and point a cheap floor fan at it.
A 4/3 dries pretty quickly. With a 5/3 steamer you may have to turn it inside out halfway through as the slick skin limits air flow.

What is quick? Well, I can certainly hang it at night and have it dry in the morning. I don't pay attention too much, when I'm done for the day it's try the next time I need it. All you need is airflow, not heat.
