I know "hyperlite" has "lite" in the title of the system but how heavy are they?

Depends on the boot and the binding. I use the low bindings I like them better. Then I have been riding the AJ's the last 2 years but they don't have them for 18's so I'll be switching to the Webb's. They are not as light as some other brands but for me they work better as I ride cable and kite using the same boots.

The weight difference is probably not even noticeable honestly.

Personal preference really. I ride Hyperlite systems and I love them. If I was to rock traditional boots I would probably go with the KTV/Shredtowns or a velcro binding. I really do not like laces. Too much of a pain when kiting and wake-boarding for me.
yeah, i regret getting laces too, such a pain in the ass for kiting. i ended up getting the boots semi-tight and tying knots in the laces so I can still slip my feet in and out, and they've stayed like that for the last 3 years or so
You don't smash your toes?

my current boots are pretty small so my toes are already pretty well up against the end, zero room for movement (i had to heat mould them just to get my feet to fit without hurting). i suppose that helps with that
