Documentary on Nick Jacobsen

Hi guys at the link above you find the full docu on N. Jacobsen.
The documentary is very nicely done and what Nick has done is just amazing and incredible.

The docu says Nick represents the future of kitesurf, i think that is nonsense. I think Nick is a unique stunt and we won't have other like him after. Perhaps we even shouldn't have other like him.

I think the future of kitesurfing is with the Olympics games.

Still this video is just unmissable by anyone kitesurfing. The last 10 minutes lead to the jump, while you watch that you can think what he gone through. No parachute!!!

Olympics = good for manufacturers, bad for riders.
Fingers crossed it will never happen for kitesurfing.

Nick is an awesome rider no doubt. And a great guy.

The future of kitesurfing? Well, anything is!
But the mass doesn't get drawn into the sport by radical stunts.
Boardercross races are more likely to attract them.

Sarc, I want to know too why you say that. Only thing I can imagine that the spots will be more crowded.

If this, then please note, that it should also open new spots...Olympia has a lot of power...

I think if anything it will drive gear costs up, stifle innovation, and increase bureaucracy with Olympic committees telling local councils what kitesurfing is and telling riders what to do. Looking at windsurfing I don't think the Olympics had a beneficial impact. Do you want kiting to look like this?

Spot on, sarc. Olympic games windsurfing is sailing in disguise.

But, to get back on topic, pretty cool documentary.

why should it influence you and me? Maybe if only race gear is available...which I doubt.

A lot of us are current or former windsurfers, but probably very few of us have paid much attention to Olympics windsurfing. Like most, I gave up windsurfing for kiting, but I still have friends who windsurf. I really don't think their equipment choices, riding style, or competitive endeavors are influenced much by the Olympics. I guess some may see increased interest and participation in the sport as a negative influence on kiteboarding if and when it becomes an Olympic event, but I am not sure I agree with that position. Time may tell.
