I learned on the Moses Fluente. I've not foiled on anything else. It took 3 sessions to learn to get up on it. 4th to stay upwind, 5th I was flying. Now at about 50 hours and doing carves and toeside, about 50% success rate in choppy conditions. I'm 80kgs.

I've used 4 boards, a moses T40. I could not use it, way too big for me. Tried 3 sessions. Then a converted stubby 4-10x18" surfboard session 4-30, then a custom ( I made it) 4-6 X18" session 30-32, it broke, then a Slingshot Dwarfcraft 5-4 for session 33-45 then I fixed my custom that gained 1,8kgs weight.

My experience is the boards radically changed the foils behavior on and off the water.
The custom that changed weight has huge influence on foil behavior. It's much less agile, but more stable in the air. Less twitchy.

The Dwarfcraft is super agile, but cannot take touchdown or surface riding without nose dive. This is likely due to moses foil behaves very different than Slingshot foil, which board is designed for.

If you get the moses fluente, get the 550/330 wingset. I have the 548 and 550, and it's not better to learn on. 548 is best if you weigh 100+kgs.
325 wing has less roll stability, so 330 is better for learning.

Anyone want a 548 front wing, I'll sell mine. Pm me.

TomW i can give a use for the 548, try it on the waves when you feel that your 550 is going too fast and you "overtake" too much the wave. The 548 flies slower, and its nice to be underpowered on the waves.

Thanks for the tip. But I have not felt the 548 is slower at bottom end or top end. It just gives more lift overall. And I think Moses is being honest , they call it high-lift, not slow speed.

If I can sell it, I'd like to try the 558..

A more lifting wing WILL make the foil slower at low speeds, and also at high speeds - that is a fact you can not change Tom :D

Total lift, whether it comes from a more curved wing or more area, determines the lowest speed you can ride.
So you can go slower if more lift on a wing, approximately same area.
More lift also means more drag, thus a lower max speed.

AR and drag is almost out of the equation here, so more lift equals better low end and a slower wing.

Of course it is marketed as high lift as it sounds better than "slow", but it is the same thing :naughty:

...

I then purchased a zeeko blue/white and the carver wing as well. Best of the lot and in hindsight, wished I started with the blue/white/carver as my first foil (not sure it existed when I got the fish foil).

I also invested in the Zeeko Spitfire and XLW wings. I would have been happy to learn on this beast as well ( but only with XLW wings)
thank you bigtone! I didn't imagine that existed something like that, is now at the top of my possible choose!

so the Spitfire with XLW is totally suitable for learn?
have any drawback compared with classic wings?
I think the classic spitfire would be challenging but not impossible. But I think the XLW version would be fairly straightforward.
