they say you "can't ride boots" on a lot of boards but the only way to know for sure is try it and see if the board breaks. They don't bother testing them in boots at the factory only in straps so when they say "don't ride with boots" it's just a guess from them. Sometimes the board will be strong enough you never know. It's an expensive way to test I know but until they start testing all of their boards both with boots and straps we have to do our own testing. the gambler I think sucks for free riding in boots which is the north board they want you to ride in boots, so it's up to us to try it with their boards that are supposed to be ridden in straps. I'm riding a jaime from hmm a few years ago in boots, I love it, have landed on boots on a breakwalls a few times (don't ask) hard, didn't snap so happy with it so far. Haven't had a chance to demo the North hadlow that's on my list to try out, but the gambler just don't like it at all, too much rocker for my taste. wish kiteboards weren't so expensive, would love to buy a new tektreme put boots on it and just see if it works, but I'm worried it might not be strong enough. I'll have to wait to buy a used board.

Here's a Textreme skin that I accidentally buckled. The thin carbon laminate just snapped at the edge.
It really needs to be well supported by the core to retain its strength.
Glass on the other hand is a bit more tolerant of abuse.

Yeah we only use it for cosmetic purposes :-)
The carbon laminate runs +45/-45, but we use glass for 0deg.

Actually I lie. We use Textreme because it improves your upwind ability, like, a lot, recognisably.
In fact if we use too much it becomes impossible to ride downwind!
