Ideal line length

Postby nismo98 » Thu Nov 23, 2017 7:56 pm

Yesterday I built a bar for foiling that has 26m lines. Untill now I have only used 22m lines for foiling and I have 7m extensions. On the light days would I be better to use the 22m with extensions, the 26 as is or the 26 with extensions?

The 2 kites I will be using them with are my 14m prodigy and my 11.5 kahoona ( I know they are not ideal for foiling but I'm broke). Also maybe my 8m ts on those medium days where loops are needed just use the 26 +7. I'm also pretty new to foiling but i really like the 14 in 8-10 Knotts and don't feel too overpowered like most say it would. Any advice would be great as it would save me more trial and error.

With LEI kites to kite underpowered i like 27m lines as general and 32m for lightwinds.

Agree with Pedro, so use your new 26 m lineset for allround, all conditions not hugely powered, and then add around 5 meter extensions when really light :thumb:

If you dont wanna spoil your 7 m extension you can also use these of course, on your 26 m; it will begin to feel sluggish somehow when too long, but it will work great in really light winds yes.

Sluggish kite needs longer bar for more line throw!
Out again today on 53 m, 14m2 kite was great in about 7 knots average.
Semi stormy weather so great to have line length in case of extended lulls.
Almost thought was not enough on beach but a little cold and damp so dense air.

Is that really 53m line length or just a typo?
