The premier of Martin Vari's new video DREAM came off very nicely last night. There was a great turnout of fifty or more people to take in the sights on the screens and to sample the excellent Argentinian cuisine.

I learned that Martin actually directed Dream, working closely with an Argentinian production company. Video sequences were shot by Elliot Leboe, Tronolone and others. I was impressed by the variety of scenes shifting from well filmed action of extreme moves to humor to great scenery. They torched a tiki hut on a sandbar after dark that blazed away as Martin repeated flew past it. Also, the score accented the action as opposed to driving the audience off into head banger mode.

There was a great turnout of Miami riders, including Cabrinha Kent and his lady.
Cabrinha rider Laura, Greg Kukliniski of Globerider and Karen of Ozonetravel.com.
I asked Martin what he enjoyed the most about the making the video. He said that it was working in the film booth, providing input on scenes, effects and related craft that completes good riding videos. I wondered what new trick he was working on. Martin said it doesn't have a name yet and he has yet to pull it off. It is a modified kite loop that involves serious rider displacment beyond what is normally done today. I couldn't quite follow what he meant but he did say there is a sequence of his attempting the trick in the video. It is the most spectacular wipeout sequence in the flick and looks fairly painful!
It was a fun night and thanks to everyone that made it possible. Martin tells me that DVD should be available all over later on the March. Looking forward to more videos out of this World Champ rider and new director. If you are down in Sobe, be sure to checkout Baires Argentinian Grill for some great SA fair.
