We’re on vacation in the Gorge with a bunch of our friends, one of whom is Cabrinha Rep Steve Gunn, our very good friend who happened to bring the new Crossbow with him. For those who haven’t seen this kite yet, it’s a radical departure from traditional inflatable kite design, in that it crosses inflatable struts and leading edge with foil kite principles and layout. There are only two in the whole country, and we’re lucky enough to have one with us, thanks to Steve. Sorry – no pics, forgot to bring my camera’s USB cable.

I rode the Crossbow yesterday at the Event’s site after my husband, John, rode it the day before at Rufus. It’s a very different ride from a traditional inflatable kite, so different that we have taken to calling it the “Space Ship.â€

Cimeron,
Great review! Does this rep *Steve Gunn* have a camera? Seems to me he should be doing pics, video etc.
Steve...please give us all what we want. More...more...more...if you need a place to post them lemme know ;-)

I had a chance to ride the crossbow myself thanks to Steve here at Hood River. The wind had dropped so I couldn't get any really big jumps, but it seemed to handle well. I landed all my forward and back rolls with no problem. The amazing thing is the total depower when you push the bar out far enough ..very impressive. And the kite loops effortlessly because you can just depower it. There are pulleys at both the kite and the bar end of the lines, but it is not complex. It will be interesting to see whether this replaces the whole recon system in the Cabrinha product line. Overall it is a very interesting new design.

Nice review Cimeron.
Everybody is very excited with this new stuff.

Question: According to your review it seems that you were able to cover a 7.5 to 16m regular LEI range. Could you please confirm?

how come all the pictures I see there is a really wide bar used? If I cant ride the thing with a 20" bar or smaller, I wont, no matter how much better it is.
