Have you ever hooked up with a mahi, or ulua? Imagine that force pulling on your kiteboard. Same thing as though some person grabbed your board as your passed them. Major jolt at a minimum. You'd have to have a light drag setting enough to set the hook, but not too much that it would dead stop your board. If you can rig hook and bait so that you only get small fish striking, it might work....

Kind of off the subject line but, when the wind slows here. I use this for my fishing needs. Catches pretty much anything. And goes forever on a tank!. Aloha KP

wouldn't dragging a poor fish around cause a lot of unnecessary suffering for the animal?
Why not kite and then fish after? The whole drag a hook around seems like a good way to keep polluting reef with hooks, and line. Or hooking stuff you do not want to hook.

I have done it very succsesfully windsurfing and would give it a try kiting as well. All you need is someone on the beach to get the fish.

We sure don't need transparent monofilament with attached hooks on our reefs and beach launches. We got enough problems without adding man-made booby traps that catch us regular folks, too.

Two of the racers out on the recent course racing event impaled some mackerel on their race fins. They flipped their boards over, expecting to dislodge the usual seaweed, but were surprised to see some poor fish instead... Unintentional, but still counts i guess

That used to be my biggest worry at the first mark in the day when I was racing windsurfers. One fall at the wrong place and all these blades would come by with a deadly potential. Nico
