I got in a full session on the Eclipse 6m Nano today. I don’t know how many knots it was, but it was pretty f-ing windy. I (80 kg/175 lbs) was well powered to a little overpowered. Everything felt very natural and normal on it. What amazed me the most was how stable the kite was even when depowered. Most of these small SLE kites I’ve ridden depowered in such strong conditions get a little twitchy and a little scary. The 6m Nano made kiting in today nuking winds easy. The funniest thing was when I came in Dimitri asked me how I liked it, and I’d said it was great but the wind was really steady today. A couple other guys looked at me and said are you nuts, the wind was crazy gusty. I think the kite is so stable and the depower so good that it just kind of absorbs the gusts.

It’s weird. You look at this kite, and it’s got some kind of harsh angles on the leading edge and only three struts. I really never would have guessed it was so stable.

For guys living in areas with strong winds, you should definitely check this kite out. I honestly think even when fully depowered it’s more stable then any C-kite I’ve ever ridden. As far as this kite for smaller riders in moderate wind, I really have no idea, but my guess is it would be sweet. Are there any smaller riders out there with this kite??? What do you think of it?? Anybody try this kite in the waves? It seems like it would be a the perfect wave kite, but since we don't really have any waves in Greece I'd like to know as I do like to travel. Anybody have an opinion here???

The season is just getting started here in Greece. Dimitri was here for a week and got 7 out of 7 days of wind and it really wasn’t that great of a week. My advice is to get on a plane to Greece, get an Eclipse 12m Thruster and a 6m, and find out how good life can be.

For the record, I have no financial connections with Eclipse kites or Greek tourism. I purchased a 12m Eclipse Thruster at a small discount because it was a used demo kite he didn’t have room to pack on the plane back to Hatteras. I think he filled up his golf bag with feta cheese. I live in Athens and would probably be better off telling all you Euro kite tourists to go else ware, but I’m just too stoked on the wind here and my new Thruster 12m to keep shut. I’m definitely thinking 6m Nano would be nice, but don’t have the $$$$ now.

Is the Pope Cathloc? Do bears sh1t in the woods? The Nano goes huge.

But really most SLE kites go huge. The really defining thing about the Nano that sets it apart is the stability combined with depower of a SLE.

You can ride it in nuking winds depowered with confidence the power it up just before lift off.

Satan is not a rep, in fact I don't even know who he is. But thanks for the help!!

The Nano is not going to Jellyfish or anything like that, it would not be
very stable if it did. Check out the videos and reviews on eclipsekites.com

And yes you can go huge with the nano :thumb:

Not a rep. Not a team rider. I got a small discount on a 12m Thruster only because it was a used demo kite. I'd probably pay less for a new one in the US. I almost didn't buy it knowing what I did to it when I demoed it. Actually, I got a free hat too, but then again I got an old nasty used pump.

Check my posting history. I've pissed off enough people that no company would want to be associated with me.

Dimitri was here in Athens this last week and I got to try the 12m, 14m, and 16m Thrusters and the 6m Nano. Really these kites are so sweet, I just wanted to share the stoke. I was really surprised. I thought no way would a company produce anything good their first year. Check out my Thruster review, I say the good and the bad. http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2338136&highlight= I'm also fully stoked that the wind is back on here and there'll be sun and wind just about every day from now until October.

But the answer to your question is no, it does not jellyfish at all. It really is the most stable kite I've flown.

what about the nano 9? What do you think the top end of a 9 would be for an intermediate rider, 85kg on a 135x40 board would be?

Im thinking about getting one

Jonathon :bye:

I have a 135x40 Fanatic Sky Solbach Pro and at 87kg I had this out in very gusty punchy 30knt Scottish winter wind and it was solid - I had no dramas from the kite just the really shitty water conditions we get here. In the right water conditions flattish water or good waves this kite can handle plenty.

On the same day others were out on 7m Kites and struggling, don't know the magic behind the Nano - maybe something to do with the weird angles mentioned above but it is super stable.

Hello Guys,
I am stuck in JFK airport because of the storms but I have 8 hrs to kill so I was browsing the internet and end up into the Kiteforum.
I see the NANO 6 made some riders very happy.
Concerning the NANO 9, I have tested this kite from winds to 11 knots all the way up to 37 knots. But the best condition for this kite is 18 to 28 knots for 175 lbs.
For wave riding the best wind is from 11 knots to 20 knots.
I hope this helps.
