Hey,
They need to finish the video or tell us the guy is ok.
That is great video and I think some of the experts should post it as a training video. Like they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

What can we learn from this video?
What happened to this guy?
Did he survive/damage?
Toby, please remove this video (it is double) because this way it makes no sense at all.

Riding way too close to the shore + well powered 16m C-kite + big gust hits...
guy is alive, nothing broken but pissed off because hi's the only one to blame...

In mid-summer most winds we get are from bad/hot/changing weather... go fugure... But going out on a 16m when big and ugly black rain fronts are running around.... definitely not the smartest thing to do..

in such onshore conditions, you shouldn't be that overpowered. Or at least keep enough distance and if too close, release the quick release!
So, 3 mistakes:
- too onshore wind
- too powered
- not releasing once he got too much speed and too close to shore
We all learn from our and other mistakes...

It is good someone caught this on video. It details nicely what can happen during progressive overpowering ending in lofting/dragging. Some additional info would help like;
1. What was the average wind speed and gust range?
2. What size kites were the other guys on that didn't seem to be overpowered at least when they appeared in the clip?
3. Were there storms in the area perhaps related to a cold front? Did one come in when the wind speed increased near the end of the video?
4. It didn't look like the rider tried to activate his quick release in the video clip. Did he actually try to do this at some point and it failed to open? If so, does he know why?
5. What was the date and approximate time of the accident (4 pm on June 2, 2007)?
Thanks
