Review for Spleene Session 141 2005 141x42 Times tested:
Amazing upwind and rides very fast. Great for gusty and variable conditions, since it will carry you through lulls, and not get overpowered when the wind picks up. Lots of fun, and an excellent first board for the long-run.Bad:
Offset fin position isn't great for toeside (2007 fin position is more traditional, so probably better). Not very forgiving in waves.Review:
Excellent for all-round use in unstable conditions. I've ridden the Session in winds from less than 10 to 30+ knots. I now have a Door64 for the extremely light winds, but the Session only needs a couple of additional knots to get going.
Bought this board as a beginner after taking a couple of lessons on other 140cm boards. However, I could not go upwind until my first ride on the Session. (I also lent it to a friend who was struggling on a Nobile 555 135cm for several sessions; he was riding upwind within his first minute on the Session 141).
Durability and quality of construction seem very good. 2006 straps and pads are okay, but I've slipped out a few times when landing jumps. 2007 pads are much better.
The Session isn't targetted to newbies, but beginners should definitely consider it since it will help their learning curve immensly for upwinding, and it will be a board that they will not out-grow.Rider Profile
