Hi Marina,

Great idea, and thanks very much for it. Unfortunately it's a bit premature for OR as we have only a handful of 08 kites in circulation at this time. We will begin filling orders early next week as our first production run of Rise kites is expected to land this Friday.

In the meantime, those of you who are interested have the option of checking out some early reviews posted in this thread . These are independent reviews posted by people who have been able to ride either my kites in the Bay area or on the kites we made available for demos after Surfexpo.

Cheers,

Evan

Converting the world one rider at a time, welcome to the crew.

Good idea! I tested the rev 2 weeks ago and can't wait to test the new rise as well. I found the rev pretty similar compared to the 2007 rise but I liked lesser bar presure on the Rev. I hear the 2008 rise will also have low bar pressure. I wil than give post my review of both these kites.

We just received the first production run of Rise kites and have started shipping them out so you will get your chance soon!

The 2008 Rise has substantially less bar pressure than the 07 kite and it can be changed to suit your preference for more or less bar pressure, turning speed etc quickly on the beach. Check out the Convertible 2008 Bridle.

We also have an 08 bridal upgrade kit available for 07 kites.

Cheers,

Evan

What did you like most about the product?
These kites are absolutely amazing. The power per size is phenomenal, at my weight I commonly get away with my 10 m Rise in 14-30 knots. I picked up the twelve for a little more power on the lighter days.

The 2007 Rise was a great kite, the 2008 Venturi is even so much better. First of all the vents truly work - no back stall with the kite fully sheeted. I just started to go unhooked recently - before it require pulling about 6 inches of depower, now you can unhook with full power with ZERO back stall. I would highly recommend this kite to anyone who prefers SLE'S and wants to unhook. The vents also seem to add hang time in jumps as the kite is reluctant to stall at all even as the bar remains fully sheeted in or if you manage to under-fly the kite.

The bridle for 2008 is the perfect amount of pressure - enough to know where the kite is and what it is doing but not so much that you are overly aware of it. Both kites turn super fast, are great for loops - fast, circle fully and with the right amount of pull.

The kites are also very handsome (I have orange and love it)

Build quality - it is Ocean Rodeo after all. To say it is bomb-proof would be redundant.

What do you think could most be improved on this product?
I have no idea - best kite I and others have ever ridden. Every good thing you hear about these kites is true. The bag is a little plain, but good and practical.

Favorite feature?
Vents....so simple, so smart.
Customer Service...if you don't know, OR has some of the best customer service around. Check out the website if you have doubts. I haven't dealt with many other companies but based on other's accounts OR is definitely ahead in this department.
