Testing the new 2008 Eclipse 10m2 Thruster

Postby HJ11 » Sat Dec 29, 2007 3:50 am

I did not had the patience to wait for spring to test my new 10m2 Thruster.
There still was some ice in the water and the temperature was 5 C.
Wind was between 18-20 knots.
The best setting for my kite was the knot closed to the kite and for the power line the knot far away from the kite.
I had the 4 m extra lines attached. So i had the kite in the air with 24 meter lines.

The new 10m2 Thruster is a little bit smaller than the 2007 model.

Construction is great and i love the one-pomp.

Little bit of a sigma shape helps to get the kite even quicker in the air and the kite feels rock solid in the air even more solid than the 2007 model.

I love the new bar and the new safety of the quick release system with the kill switch.

There is more space between the power strap and the CL.
Now you can depower the kite almost compleet when pushing the bar away. With the 2007 Thruster you also needed to pull the depower strap to get the full depower.

The 2008 Thruster does have a direct feel and is almost as fast as the 2007 model.

I'm 90 kg and have a 135x41 board.
Its no problem for me to kite with 18 knots and with the old 10m2 Thruster it was possible for me to kite with 16-35+ knots.

I only flown the kite ones but love my new toy :thumb:
Cann't wait to get into the water again

Damn!! It's colder in Holland than in Denmark then!!
We went out yesterday in 4-5 degree celcius. about 15 kiters on the water. No ice yet though :D

I was out 4 hours. Not cold in a drysuit, hood and winter mittens :thumb:

Thanks Dimitri, happy new year to you too!

Actually that day that the (2 days ago) I tried a Truster for the first time, as they are now in Denmark. Rode my own Era 10 m2 - and then had a try on the Truster 8 m2.

Very very nice indeed. I thought my Era was fast, but the Truster is very fast! Doesn't have to same hard pull as the Era but it fells like it generates a lot of momentum due to its speed.
My 95 kg didn't feel very powered with an 8 m2 that day, but I went upwind very well. Nice nice kite!!

The 8 THRUSTER is an excellent kite. I have use it from 14 to 18 knots and it works very nice, but the best wind is from 22 knots to 35 knots.
This is when you see what this kite can do.
