Hi - i'm thinking of going to Madagascar in the next couple of weeks. might spend 3 weeks there or so. looks pretty amazing. anyone who can give me any help much appreciated!

seems you can kite in the north and south - which is better / nicer? I kite pretty well on flat, but not in waves...can just do small ones. However, would like to do some windsurfing too, where waves very much appreciated (but i will need a rental place since sold all my kit some years ago....was told kiting was the future!)

will also be looking for somewhere to stay

any other advice or help you have much appreciated!!! :jump:

best wind guarantee is in october/nov. therefore heading there 1st week oct. In the north: Diego Suarez, mer d 'emeraude (emerald sea): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IxS5cexSzc. Nosi be in the west is popular too. In the south there is nice big quite empty lagoon. try: www.kitesurf.fr

A little late to fill this in...but better late than never. I went to babaomby in the end. quite an epic location, a real once in a life time adventure. i was there in july/august...unbelievably windy. 35+ knots most days, so a bit too much really. I'm led to believe that october time is much more civilised. the lodge is expensive for madagascar, but a really nice location and good people, so recommended.

I did spend a few days at Sakalava. Cheaper and you have the option of going into town for food etc, so nice, but nothing like the experience. kiting was better in babaomby too i think - make sure you go to la piscine. only negative on babaomby was that the reef is long way out...i'm not too good with distances, but over a mile, felt like it took well over 5 minutes to get there...so of course if anything happens, it's not ideal. but there is an island there you can blow on to...it's just a long swim home if the jetski doesnt spot you!

thanks for sharing the useful info.
I heard the south offers great conditions and waves but that it is a bit of a mission to get there..
