I finally tried my new Screamer 12m today. Expectations were high (thanks to this thread) - some are met, some not.

Background: I was mostly riding Cabrinha Switchblades. Got Screamer because I wanted something faster and higher jumping.
- Main thing - jumps! It was OK (4m at most) but not that much better or easier than Cabrinha. Maybe wind was not cooperating - it was 10 to 15 knots. Will try it in higher winds when I get a chance. A little disappointed. Am I doing something wrong?
- Speed. Definitely faster than Cabrinha.I flew Swithblade 9m yesterday - Screamer 12m felt faster today. Also reacts to the bar immediately - no rubbery feeling of Cabrinha. Nice!
- Power. A little on the lower side, but I hope it has a higher upper range
- Depower / power-up - works really well, just as Cabrinha. Gusts - no problem, almost don't notice them.
- Relaunch, There was a very light wind closer to the shore. I couldn't relaunch the Screamer there without an assistance. Also during a lull my kite went down with slack lines, then got flipped and inverted/twisted. I was ready to swim to shore when somehow it miraculously untangled! I'm not happy that it inverted. but it is nice that it came back on its own!

Hello Mr. aleks,
Thank you for your honest post. You have to understand that the SCREAMER 12 that you got needs to be tested in 15 to 18 knots at least and not 10 to 15 knots. Especially the relaunching or the jumping. The best wind for the SCREAMER 12 is (17 to 22 knots) depending your weight. Personally I use the SCREAMER 12 in 18 to 27 knots, after that I am over powered. Please do me a favor and test the kite in higher winds at least 15 to 18 knots but not 11 knots. It will fly in 11 knots but won't perform the way it is suppose to perform.
Your name: "alexs" sound familiar!!! Are you the one who tried the Screamer 12 (3G) in 18 to 23 knots that day on the OBX and loved it!!!! Because that person loved it so much that he decided to buy the SCREAMER 12 (2011). So if that is you, please try the SCREAMER 12 in stronger winds and you will see the difference. Try it in 17 to 20 knots and you will see a big difference. I don't remember if you bought it complete with a 2010 bar or 2011 bar. But if you bought it with a 2010 bar you will need to trim it at least 10cm because the outside "Flying" lines are too long and that makes the kite not perform as good because of less power. So you need to trim the kite. You can always check the video I made for "how to trim your kite using another bar"
And once again if you plan to kite in 10 to 15 knots then go with the SCREAMER 14 or the RENEGADE 13. These sizes are made for that type of wind (10-20 knots).
Let me know if you need any more help. You can always email me.
Thank you.

Dimitri, I have a 2010 Screamer 14, 2011 Renegade 6, and a 2011Epic bar. Are the outside lines on the 2011 bar 10cm shorter than the 2010 bar? If this is the case, I should add 10cm pigtails to the outer bridle on the Screamer for use with the 2011 bar right?

Thanks for your time.

Edit:
and just for clarification for anyone using other brand's bars, the 2011 and 3G kites are made for all lines to be even when it is fully sheeted in and the 2010 kites need the outer lines 10cm longer than the middle lines when fully sheeted in. Am I correct?

Where is the holes for the add on mirco-loop?

I am sorry Mr.s1buell_wl but I don't understand what you are talking about. Can you please elaborate on your question above?
Also will be able to show you the entire CL and BAR in action soon so you get a better understanding on how it works. So far every body that has seen and tested the new CL has been very impressed. To tell you the truth, I am impressed also, did not expect to come as nice as what we have.

Shit I had high hopes and now they are crushed. Have to keep looking.

Hiya,

I would really appreciate a micro loop too, similar to what North and Core kites have.

This makes a death man much easier. I'm sure you know now what he means.
Possible?

Thanks a lot.

Hello Mr.600.
The 2011 bars have all 4 lines to be equal. The best way to check this out is by hooking up all 4 lines on a nail and then start pulling the bar. Make sure the CL is against the bar also. You need to put lots of pull on the bar so the middle line comes to the same level then the other outside lines because of the weight of the Depower Strap.
The 2010 bars had the outside lines longer or shorter by 10cm. I need to check my notes again because it has been a long time.
I hope this answers your question. I do have a video explaining all that. If you are interested please email me at: dimitri@epickites.com and will send you the video.

Hey Dimitri

I really don't understand your point of view. Plenty of people like your brand and post about it, those who don't and post are called many names whilst only pointing out some of the issues with quality of the kites and the bars. You invite people to post good or bad and that's what is happening now. We all know that a bar with rusty screws, cracks in the release system and lines that snap needs some improving, maybe your next bar will address these issues. You answered my question about not using Dacron on the trailing edge like most of the big brands, I do not agree that you are right but I understand the thought.

@windsuks. It's good that you sold out of infinity kites, how many have you sold? Don't forget I'm in the UK and have a very good idea of the number of these kites on our beaches.

Paul

I did not say I know how many kites are on the UK beaches. I kite in the North of England but travel a lot with my job so really I don't have a local beach. I do though know a lot of kiters and schools/shops in the UK.

As I've said on several occasions, I'm just pointing out the negative aspects of these kites. It's just a different opinion welcomed by Dimitri.

Toodle pip.

Sorry I just read that again and realised it sound rather aggressive, which I appolgise for. I did not join this fourm to shout at people mearly to enjoy the like minded. So again sorry. But seriously Kevin you can not say to a shop owner that you can not lie to me about the amout of kites you have sold because I live in the UK.

There are many, many places to surf in the UK and Ireland and whos to say that the shop does not supply Euroupe?

I know for sure that you have not been to my local spots as we are a pretty tight knit bunch and very inclusive so either I or one of my mate would have spoken to you. There has definately been Epic kites at my local spots in the past and no doubt in the future.

If your points about the bar that you are making are about your own bar then please post photos as this will give you credence and give your story merit. Other wise it does just sound like bashing.

Kevin I am not trying to get at you, as you are more than welcome to have your opinion it just the way that you put it across.

I have said it before and I will say it again. I came on here to listen to brands show their gear. of course they are going to say it's the best thing since sliced bread. what self respecting marketier would not?

It's up to me to then check out their claims and TRIAL their kit. If I like it I will buy it. But again it's up to ME the consumer to make this choice no brand can force you to buy any thing.

Without new brands like Epic, the kite world would be come rather stale and boring.

Anyway The walking dead is starting on Channel 5 in 10 minutes so I going to brew up and get in bed to watch it.

Peace to all and please can we try to be nice to each other from now on.

Kind regards

Some one of like mind

Paul

Hi Kevin,

I'm obviously not going to say how many kites we sell on here but we do not just sell the kites locally. We are regularly sending out Epic kites to other spots/beaches around the UK and this is growing all the time.

Locally we do now have a very strong following of people loving the kites, they bought them 'cos they liked them.
You will see plenty of posts from some of these guys on our Blast forum.

You should come here for a session some time, your always welcome.

They tried them, they bought them, simple.

I've said it before, the back up and service we have had from Epic has been the best we have had from any brand...full stop!

We have dealt with pretty much most kite brands over the past 10 years or so and when something goes wrong we are usually left on our own to sort it out :nono: ...not so with Epic.
Then there is the personal contact that Dimitri has with his (and our customers) have you tried emailing the top guys at other kite brands?
Dimitri continues to ask on here about improvements that could be made, he is about to bring out a replacement QR to replace the system that was originally from another kite company....why are you not on that brands thread bashing the same sytem?

Each to there own I guess but you really do come across as if you have a real axe to grind, why the second name on here, why only ever post on this Epic thread?

Anyway, we are stoked with the way Epic is going here and world wide, we are stoked with how they perform and we are also simply stoked to be part of the Epic Kiteboarding family :thumb:

One more thing, people moan about the number of pages that the Epic threads have, how ironic that your almost 30 posts have helped to push it to the top each day.

Hopefully you will come visit our beach one day and we can share a session together and enjoy the stoke of kiting rather than bitch on forums.
