Sorry for the preach

The outer neoprene for sure has evaporative heat loss when wet in the wind. I find it pretty easy to overcome with adequate insulation, but also tend to cover up or get out of the wind between sessions. Have found that you can go to town with the insulation once it gets really cold without any real downside as long as its nice and stretchy.

Hope you get your layering dialed.

Don't you think the outer neoprene must limit the breathability, as compared to a traditional drysuit?

Dont really know but think submersion is the main factor limiting breathability. seems to breath when its wet, and when its covered, but pretty sure that stops when its completely wetted out,,, as in underwater.

Ocean Rodeo started out making commercial diving and military grade scuba dry suits, 20+ years ago, I wouldn't save 100 dollars and go buy one from a competitor. My Pyro is 5 years old now and in perfect condition. I'm about to buy the Soul as the breath-ability is light years ahead of the Pyro and the styling obviously much cooler.

One thing that I heard directly from OR is that they spent 2 years working with a seamstress on the fit of the suits, as they didn't like the imperfect / baggy fit of the last ones. The suits fit very slimly but have great range of motion. You can straddle a surf board without tearing out the crotch.

I'm really looking forward to a better fitting, more breathable dry suit, will fill in here after I have had a chance to ride it a few times in January.
