Viganj is one of the most known windsurfing and kitesurfing spots in Croatia. Sea channel between Pelješac and Korčula and the wind that blows in it provides ideal conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Such conditions are due to his position at the narrowest part of Pelješac channel due which when the wind blows gets multiple acceleration.Viganj today has become a favorite meeting spot for wind and kitesurferS. In the summer, mistral(northwest) is blowing and this wind is the best for enjoyments in this sports, his virtue is a constancy and a small wave, which enables the achievement of adrenaline speed!

Mistral usually starts around 12am and lifts up, at the right speed from 02pm to 08pm, the average strength reaches 5 beauforts, and if you are happy, up to 8!

All this enables ideals conditions for various competitions, it should be pointed out 1989 when the World Cup took place and 1990g. European Championship, in addition Viganj traditionally hosts the Open Championship of Croatia and Croatian Cup in windsurfing.

In the summer there are several schools for wind and kitesurf, and which also rents equipment.

Morning is ideal for first steps due to light breeze, and the channel appears like a lake and gives a feeling of safety for beginners and children.

In the last several years expansion of kitesurfing and theirs arivall in greater numbers are forming along with windsurfers spectacular pictures in the channel.

Hello,the wind starts on May until middle of September.If you come on August you can expect wind from 12-25 knots,so i would suggest you bring 12,14 and maybe 9.The wind is very stable and full so even if it is 11-12 knots you can ride 14 with no problem.With 20 knots you already need 9m.The water is light choppy with a little bit of current because this is a channel,but nothing special.But you have the most fantastic scenery because you can ride to the island of Korčula and its really beautiful.It is not a sandy beach but it is very beautiful with a lot of kiters and windsurfers and the water is crystall clear.You also have rescue service on the beach ,restaurant,toilet,beach bar and a kite center,everything direct on the spot.I would suggest you stay in VIGANJ either a camping site or apartments,because everything is within 1km.

my idea is go in korciula in marina aci with sail boat and friend and every day go (2km) in Vigany with my friend jetski and my kite equipement.

Maybe M2C from regular tourist/kiter in past 7 years there,

the wind actually is stronger due to venturi effect/channel than on some other cool spots in Croatia, usually few knots more than avg.

There are 3 places to launch/land kite, the spot in Viganj is where the wind is steadier and strongest.

Conditions are choppy.

Our avg. ridable long term stats are about 80%, min. 60%, max. 100%. Prevailing winds in summer is maestral/mistral/NW, side-shore, just slightly on-shore. Spring/Autumn jugo/S winds comes, can bring bad weather, but also small waves (waves are not big) after few days of blowing.

If you want to max your riding chance take all sizes with you, from 8 to 16 or more.

Spot in Viganj is authorized by local community so please obey the rules there. Place IS SMALL so please roll the lines back on bar after session and remove the kite from launch area into the line (kite after kite). Spot can be extremely crowded.

Use extreme caution when launching, it is not the place to be If you are beginner, get a help and take the first steps in school nearby (Maritimo is the only kite school in Viganj). Seen many weird stuff there which also did hurt.

Trying to find wind stats for Viganj, August, do not have access to Windguru Pro so best I could locate is that the place on average gets 6 to 8 days over 15 mph. for whole month.

Can anyone provide better August stats for last say 5 years?

Cause from what I'm finding, not convinced as a wind destination.

Also, how is Bol better or worse.

Hello,there a no statistics since is a thermal spot with wind getting accelerated by a narrow channel.Normaly there are at least 20 days with good wind.about the strenght is diferent can be 15 or can be up to 25 knots.But the wind is very steady with no gusts.The weather is perfect hot with no rain
