por month in August/September? Are the waves ok for surfing? ...pure surf without kite...
Thanks to thermals in the summer, we normally get about 3-5 days per week that are rideable. If you have a big LW kite that number goes up to almost 7 per week, especially with the current in the river and tides helping. Im 95kg and i usually go with a 9m2 kite. We have had periods with 3 weeks of straight kite surfing 9m winds (20-30kts), leaving our guests exausted and wishing for a calm day..
If winds are weak, we usually go up to Viana do Castelo, a spot famous for its winds. There, even with a forecast of almost nothing, the afternoons are usually rideable.
Waves we have, really good ones for kitesurfing. For pure wavesurfing the best period is in spring and fall, but there are some spots with less wind around which get nice waves in the summer.
Remember, we are in the northern-most part of Portugal, liberated from huge tourist crowds, banned beaches and over-priced tourist food. Here, its Portugal for real, the good stuff!

See you on the beach!
