The Epic Infinity is not a good light wind kite. For details, see this review:
http://www.thekiteboarder.com/2011/05/e ... te-review/
The Infinity will get you going in ~10+ knots. Most riders prefer a LIGHT wind kite that really squeezes as much as it can out of light winds; turning speed is very secondary. While the Infinity turns quickly, certainly more quickly than the dedicated LIGHT wind kites like the Dyno and Fat Lady, it has poorer bottom end.
The review on the "Kiteboarder" magazine that you mention above was for the
INFINITY v1. But again every body that has purchased or demo the
INFINITY v1 were very impressed for the light wind ability. Also you have to remember in order to plan in very very light winds you need to know what you are doing and you need to know how to milk the kite in order to generate the power so you can plan plus you need to have the perfect light wind board also.
The
INFINITY v2 is the improve version of the
v1. So in few words we were able to give the
INFINITY v2 much more power then the
INFINITY v1, better up wind ability and better hang time. Just wait until you read the new review on the "KITEWORLD" magazine. I think your jaw is going to drop off.
So once again if you plan to kite in 6 to 12 knots get a hold of the
INFINITY v2. All you need to do is try the INFINITY V2 and the kite will talk for itself. But also make sure you are using a light wind board if you venture in 6 to 10 knots.
P.S. The "KITEBOARDER" magazine will be testing the INFINITY v2 soon. So make sure you check their review but again this time it will be for the INFINITY V2
