Fat lady was fun and like the epic infinity.. While the dyno felt more performance. In terms of upwind, and quality. Completely different kites just depends what you want to do with them. Freestyle would say Fat.. Freeride and upwind Dyno

... hey guys, missed this one earlier, better late than never.

I can give you my observations on this one as I own a Dyno 18m and tried a Fatlady, back to back.

The day I tried was very light where TT's were going down wind and only Sectors were making a go of it. I was enjoying mucking around on my Dyno when a mate of mine pulled up with his Fatlady and interested in how it performed, compared it to the Dyno, so I bummed a ride.

In short, the Fatlady turns waaay quicker and feels alot smaller than the title of 17m suggests but when compared to the Dyno, it didn't have the same horse power and and it also didn't point upwind as well. I could just hold ground when using the Fatlady, but could make it upwind easily with the Dyno 18m. With the given wind, I could easily park and ride the Dyno where as I had to sine the Fatlady quite a bit so it felt like a small kite and I couldn't push the board upwind, where as the Dyno just pulled steadily and I could push and make upwind easily.

I can imagine that the Fatlady would be fun in waves because it turns so quick and tight turning circle with really easy bar pressure doing it, but if your after light wind ability alone, the Dyno has it. Jumps were fun on the Fatlady but again, for the hang/glide, Dyno is the winner. I like looping kites and this is where the Fatlady wins, so it was really fun and easy but then again so is the Dyno, just slower with more power. Ironically, the Dyno is easy on the bar too, just that the kite turns slower. Actually, the Fatlady reminded me very much of my 2006 16m Vegas which I loved.

Both are good light wind kites but the Dyno has it when it comes to light wind power, but you gotta remember, they are both very different kites and ride very different so your gunna have to try for yourself to really know which one you like. I'm a bit biased because I own the Dyno but the Dyno has it over the Fatlady when it comes to power, jumps, hang and upwind in the light winds.

cheers,

Robbie :)

I have ridden both as well as a few other light wind kites. At first glance the set it and forget it nature of the Dyno is appealing but the more I played with both kites I realized I got bored quickly with the Dyno. I do not just like to mow the lawn. I agree with what has been said earlier. They are 2 different kites. The Dyno may and I emphasize "may"get you upwind 1 knot earlier than the Fat Lady. But for me I would never sacrifice fun and performance for 1 knot of wind. Again the "may" part of this is with a faster turning kite I am able to create power. So if you are looking for a set and forget kite that just pulls like a truck then go for the Dyno. But if you are willing to learn to ride a performance big kite that will certainly out perform the Dyno in all categories other than just raw one stroke pull, the Fat Lady is the kite.
