Just get em both don.

kind of apples and oranges/scratch that / ......bananas
If fun is what you seek, get the nugget....light wind mastery ..sector

Sector is a "recreational" race board

nugget a wake-skatey surf-board-like thingy, but has fun written all over it

Agree...

Very different boards. Sector is someway racy. Although 54 is free-race surf oriented, is still a freerace board.

Nugget goes into surf/freestyle with far smaller fins, and has nothing to do with sector.

Comparing these 2 boards is really complicated. What are you looking for exactly?

The Nugget is fun and easy to ride. Very egg shaped and flat enough that it planes up quickly. It is like my skim board but more versatile. At 5-0 its the first really short surfboard that I have liked. I don't like anything shorter than 5-8 because the shorter boards get too skatey.

The Sector 54 is a real surf/race directional, designed to charge up wind and be very efficient. Switching between surf fins and race fins gives the board two different personalities. The 5-8 length hits the sweet spot for length. It can carve a satisfying bottom turn.

As Nobby Raish said...... they have nothing in common, like comparing apples and bananas.

I have both and they are totally different boards.

The shapes are different, fins size, their size, nugget is 5' the sector 54 is 5'8" aprox
when you use them, your foot weight distribution is different.

Both are great boards for their target market. :thumb:

The Sector 54 is more oriented for ultimate light wind and free race you would generate more
speed with the Sector 54. The nugget is a light wind board for the waves but can't compare
to the sector 54 as a light wind board. The sector 54 main target is not to use it as a board for waves. The nugget is not the board to select it as your lightest wind board is a board for fun and freestyle .

As nobby raish mention, kind of apples and oranges.

If you are looking to buy one of them first need to decide the primary use of the board.

Great feed back guys ...........Thanks, this is what I wanted to hear, high quality reviews..........

I rode a Sector 52 last year in Baja, a few times, in light wind with a 13m Rebel. First, without the front fins to acclimate then fully fin-ed up............

At first I tried to keep up with race boards only to find that the Sector is no race board, still fun though as I could go up and down the bay with ease in almost no wind........

Bank'in and crank'in ( which I guess is my target goal in light wind ) was do-able on the Sector especially if you take the front fins out. The 52 I had did not have the on-center front foot strap option like the new 54, which for me would be preferable also I notice the new Tri-fin option might be better for me as well............

So now knowing that the Sector 52 can not do double duty ( race and freeride )......... light wind freeride fun is what I'm looking for, not the ultimate up wind capabilities like a quad fin-ed Sector, but as close as I can get while being more playful........

So is the Nugget that board ?

Is the Nugget lighter weight ?

Thanks............ Don

Hey Manuel, Would the Sector still be faster than the Nugget if they had the same size fins ?

If so than I'm assuming that the Nugget has more rocker......... correct ?

It's been my experience that speed in light wind is very important..........

Fast in what respect?

..in the first answer you already got that they are completely dissimilar.

Nugget: Surfboard-ish
Sector: Raceboard-ish

all the other features are pretty much laid out for you. If you really just want someone else to make a decision for you: Get the nugget. No wait get the sector. Just kidding get the nugget. or the sector. You'll end up with both anyway.
