After we started our kitesurfing-business in Calhau, Sao Vicente, Cape Verde, we now decided to move to Calheta, Maio, Cape Verde.

Why going to Maio for kitesurfing?

What we found in Calheta is a wonderful bay with a huge flatwater-area and perfect waves 500m outside the bay, a sandy beach and the possibility to offer accomodiation only a few steps away from the sea. Conditions like this we did not find on any other island of Cape Verde, this is why we think Maio is definitely worth a visit!

Like Sal and Boa Vista, also Maio offers good wind conditions almost the whole year....the difference is: the bay of Calheta is still a "secret spot" - maybe there is only YOU on the water!

Cape Verde is planned for March.
Its gonna be a last minute trip. I'll check you guys out when the time comes.

Prevailing wind seems to be about 15 knots slightly cross-on from the right?

I have been looking at that spot on google maps for 3years and it looks perfect, What is the deal with accommodation and how do you get there? The difficulty in transfers from the uk and the lack of certainty on ferrys and internal flights is all that has stopped me. Post up some pics please just to tempt me more.
