I'm in a spot. My 2011 Rebel is falling apart and need a new 14m kite.

I bought a 16m Dyno. I really like the kite and would like a 14m but they don't make one. I don't really want to buy the 13m

I also don't really want to sell the 16m and buy a 15m -17m combo.

Current quiver
11m Rebel
14m Rebel (on deaths door)
and 16m Dyno

I would like to keep the north bar with micro loop. So does anyone know a good 14m kite that has 5 lines and great boost & hang time?

cheers

Ahhh,yeah north rebel :D
Seriously, please correct me if i am wrong, but seems most kite co's
have ditched the 5th line, with the exception of some True C kites.

Can i ask why you like the micro loop,
as i have herd some stories in the past of some mishaps with
them, hooking on to the bar at the wrong time, finger getting caught in them, ect.

Too may great kites to list nowadays,
Good luck!

A micro hook is also very handy when going upwind. Especially with c-kites with high bar-pressure and if you are wearing gloves!

The "rotorhead" on the north bar can be turned 180 degrees so you dont hook in unintended. Brilliant

Forgive any spelling mishaps :)

According to North's website, the Dyno 13m has more power than the Rebel 14m.

2012 Dyno 13m: 9-21 knots
2012 Rebel 14m: 11-23 knots

Although I have the 2011 10m Dyno and I don't feel like it has a range of 12-25 knots as the website says for the 2012 10m Dyno. I'd say the low end is more like what they list for the Rebel 10m, 14 knots, and thats for a big board. Could be different for 2011 - 2012 though. I've never ridden a rebel, so can't compare.

I can see how this is going to unfold.

Ive looked at the Ozone, Epic and I have the North.

Looks like I`m going to need to change my sizes.
Ozone has 13,15,17
North has 13,15,17
Epic 14m

If I go Epic or Ozone I will have to use the north 4 line bar. But If I buy the north 13.15m I will have to sell the 16 and buy the 17m...... ton of cash

Man what a pickle.

Love the 16m Dyno great Old School kite.

Or buy the ozone or EPIC with bar? Ok is a little more in price but i'm guessing you would have to buy a north 4line bar aswell? not sure if that would be any cheaper.

Not really getting the if i get a 13 i cant have the 16 dyno thing. Sounds like a perfect fit.

Just test them and see what you like.

The north quad trust bar if I remember right flags out to both center lines but the ozone is meant to have 100% flag out to 1 single center line. And actually all the north kites are meant to flag to center line if you rig them that way. From my experience the rebels feel about 1 meter larger than the equivalent ozone. There's nothing wrong with flying a 2 kite quiver between the 11m rebel and 16m dyno seems like you have a ton of wind range already with some overlap between the 11m and 16m dyno. If you want another kite why not just get a 13 or 15 north, and no need to buy another bar.

I've never tried the epic, not sure how it compares.

It just seems like you're stuck with this idea you need to have exactly 2 meters between your kite sizes. You know if you have two kites that are closer in size all it means it that they will wear out less often since you will be able to switch between the two more often. going with a 13m will mean you can save some wear and tear on your 11m while going with a 15m saves your dyno from wear and tear.

I think you are getting too hung up by the size of kite printed on the side of the kite. Go with the 13m Dyno. So, you don't have to buy another bar and don't give it another thought.
