guys i am looking at a kiteboard, which has been hard to find at a reasonable price, anyways a guy is selling a board 138cm long, but with boot bindings, what's your thoughts on boot binding for kite boarding, for a beginner? The board is a Jason Slezak's pro model 138 influence. I do want to wakeboard as well, so thought maybe the boot binding would work? as mentioned having a hard time finding a board for a good price.

kiteboards usually cost twice or three times as much as wakeboards (for reasons which people smarter than me have explained on this forum before) so if you are used to wakeboarding there will be some sticker shock

well if you havent hit water yet than the boots wont do you any good though the board is ok. Try to buy just the board or if you cant buy deck only and the price is really good buy it and and than also buy straps separatly.
Also that board will kill your knees on cable. It is not a wake board or even a wakestyle kiteboard.

The influence has a little more rocker than most kiteboards but it is really flat compared to a wakeboard so it wont be as good for that. The influence is great for a beginner and is the board I ride with boots, but you definitely need some straps to learn with. The board works fine with both.
Don't waste your money with a "beginner" board because as soon as you can stand up for more than 5 seconds at a time you've already outgrown it. But there are plenty of good boards that also work great for learning - pretty much any freestyle board goes upwind very easily and planes quickly (characteristics you want). The only boards that will make it more difficult are wake style ones. But even those are fine if you are well powered on the kite.

well he has it listed for $300 cdn, would you say go for it? comes with the boot bindings, the wake boarding i will do is very simple, to old for tricks at 37 years old, just thought i would save some money buying two boards, as i just purchased a Seadoo GTX as well. But I have seen some wakeboards for cheap as well $150 so whatever you guys think is best, maybe I should buy a wakeboard and a kite board?

well your knees are old too. At 37 years you probably won't be pushing wake style or freestlye tricks much are you.
what style in kiteboarding do you like the most anyway?
300 cdn. well depends on the condition and year model of the board and bindings. Get some photos. Influence is a great board in straps, but even the cheapest wakeboard will be million times better for wakeboarding.
well if by wakeboarding you mean just being pulled behind the jetski (crusing) than it could do the trick.

the board looks it is in good condition (2009model i think). Can't really comment on the price. I can tell you it is a good board behind the kite if you put some straps on. If you decide to buy it. get some straps for kite riding and keep the boots for for those occasion crusing behind the jet.
