yes i agree with most on here. The 7m days are very worthy, unless your toby and insist on only flying big kites only doing airschool. You definately don't want to be on the beach watching when its nuking because you don't have a small enough kite.

I also agree with get a bigger than 14m kite. I have 15,13,10,6. .... I hardly use the 13. i go straight from 15m to 10m. I definatly need an 8m because the jump between 10 and 6 is too much!...

In agreement with other posters. If you intend to ride a surfboard 7m is a must. On TT a 9m may do. I am 100kg and I am suprised how often I use a 7m after switching to surfboard riding. If you have a 12m there is no point in getting 14m. Go to a dedicated light wind kite or eliminate 12m from your quiver and go from 14m to 10/11.

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't specify a place, because we will be living on a boat and won't be in any one particular location. I am sure there are places with different conditions but I was assuming with the steady trade winds they might be similar. I am a little surprised by all the folks saying a 7m is needed for a surfboard. I ride a 6' Slingshot Verve and a 5'5" Caution Trespass, along with TTs at times, and still rarely use the 7 and its pretty windy here. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

Hmmm, that was a new input - you ride surfboards ?

As here, in Denmark, everybody with a surfboard, no matter what weight - got a smaller kite than a 7m2, as this is the "standard" not very small kite in waves.

So 4-5-6m2 kites is a must too

But I have no experience with the carribian as said - and maybe there is not that much wind in general ?

:D Peter

The caribbean is in the trade winds belt - very reliable 15 - 20 kn daily. Higher mid-winter.

Peter your forgetting about the change in density of the air with temperature increases. The super hot caribbean wind is going to have less power than your cold as shark shit denmark.

Thus less need for 7m.... i still say keep it.
