@Ludmil - defintively A wing generates power by the difference in air pressure. Making holes certainly doesn't help. Moreover making holes at the wingtips will create even more complex vortexes and drag.

I recently got the Naish Global kitesurf board and really like the quality also i got a buyer for my North Evo, so i was thinking to change to Naish, to try something new. Overall i was happy with North, the only thing bothering me was the long depower, and i think not so stable kite when depowered. I am not a pro or an expert so i might be wrong.

So,could you enlighten us how does it change the Park perfomance.Just curious. I`d like to hear your next guess. L.

So how does it affect the kite? When you say more vortexes...do you mean SIGNIFICANTLY more or just in more as in 0.00001% more? (it matters)

me also interested- as the vortices are created by migration to the tips the anti stiction idea (which i quite like for what it is designed for) would be more likely to decrease or clean up the wingtip vortices so make the kite more efficient.

That is exactly how a guy i kite with assumed it would work too. I mean don't feel I know enough about air flow and dynamics to really to say anything definitely about it, but I am having problems imagining that it makes anything worse, especially since it is right by a strut. If the ride is anything to judge by the anti-stiction windows will increase a little in size this year.

Interesting use of the portmanteau for 'static friction' to describe a drain. A bit of packing tape will settle the aerodynamic question... Cheers!

there's no way the antistiction makes the kite better, there is significant airflow through the holes in the kite, this is not a C kite, you can see there is plenty of pressure, wind will flow through the hole and create turbulence along the wing, under the wing, and at the wingtips. The hole in the wing should make the kite pull you more directly downwind, have a lower top speed, jump lower, sit deeper in the wind window, fly less efficiently and slower. My guess is 1 percent more drag.
If holes in wings were good we would have them in our airplanes.
the sole purpose of antistiction is to let the kite relaunch better because water can drain out of the wing so it doesn't "stick" to the water, but as far as I am concerned any modern kite launches practically by itself, so duct tape the stiction if you buy a park.

sorry edt but if you look at the whole picture -there are complete absence of kite 10cm further on, so the fact that you think this little vent is doing such terrible things makes me laugh. Please be aware of the fact that I have flown the Naish Fly and found it to be a stellar kite with performance worthy of a larger kite-( I want one- first time since my last naish- the ar5). There is no performance lack, quite the opposite it is a large kite that has balls, great turning and excellent upwind. My gut tells me that having a pressure eqalization just before the wing tip will cause the wingtip vortices to smooth out and therefore less parasitic drag and more performance. Now I have no formal qualifications but have worked in designing and making kites for 35 years - so much time on the water. luv F
