2011 or 2012 Slingshot Turbine 17(sorry, not sure which year) and control bar. Chickenloop quick release activates randomly. I've had this happen to me and 2 other people while riding on this bar. It happens while just cruising along or powering up. It may go an hour or so without activating or might release 3 times in 10 minutes. I've verified the pin is thru the clip, folded back up and reinserted back into the top piece. The little bungee cord is also on tight as it's supposed to be. I can't seem to find what the problem is. Has anyone else seen this issue? I'd sure like to believe it's some sort of "operator error" instead of a defective chicken loop or design flaw.

i ve hear from my friend he's got the same problem a couple of times on the rpm 14(2012) and he also not figgured out yet what cause this problem.

myself i fly RPM(2012) 12 and 14 and never had this problem untill now.

myself i think the problem lays on the 2 ends where the chickenloop is connected on the safetrelease box
i think some ss bars the chickenloop end (see pic below) have a litle different in angle on the end ,or not fit 100% when its connected on the safetrelease box. because the manufacturer bend it manual i guess.
(make the small angle on the end of the chickenloop) so maybe every chickenloop is not equal to another.
When there s an increase moment of tension on the chickenloop it might be able to release it?

maybe u try to bend it a bit different and ur fine?

I've had the same problem with a 2011 North bar and lines.

What I decided was happening to me, was that as it was a really gusty day, the chicken-loop would bounce around on my spreader bar, sometimes bouncing all the way off so just the donkey dick was holding it on. When this happened it put extra strain on the chicken-loop, distorting it slightly which triggered the quick release.. Incredibly frustrating!

2011 turbine white bag
2012 turbine grey bag and bloody big 17 on the canopy

check the butter box Q housing, they did have some crack on the 2011 bars and that would cause random releases, it usually went up the seam on the side on the QR sol look carefully.

if it is that then get in touch with your dealer and it can be sorted by SS.

Ok, well that helps to solve the identity problem: It's a 2012 based on the HUGE 17 written on the sides of the kite. ;)
I'll have to look and see if I notice any cracks along the sides of the butterbox that might be causing this, however, since it's a 2012, I'm guessing this is not likely.

When this has failed, it's been very light wind (sorta figures, I guess, since we were using the Turbine in the first place) and not gusty at all. I mean, you couldn't hardly get more gentle conditions to use the kite in.

I guess I'll have to check and see what the bend looks like in the loop. For some reason, I don't remember it being kinked/bent like the one in the attached picture (thanks, hoetthai). Is that the way it should look on a proper one?

Take a good look when everything is connected, then pull hard on the chickenloop in a few different positions and maybe u see some movement on the butterbox wich normally never may happening .
I think u cant see any different between a proper one and your one,

I SUGGEST U TRY ANOTHER CHICKENLOOP ON THAT BAR IF ITS FINE AFTER ALL U CAN COMPARE BOTH CHICKENNOOPS AND LOOK WHATS THE DIFFERENT.

Good luck SENDIT :thumb:

It happened to me with my first Core bar (ESP bar). I sent it to Core and they told me the spring was defective, they repaired it for free (no more under warranty!) and sent the bar back in 3 days, all at their expense (including delivery). This really IS after sale SERVICE.
