Homemade kite bags

Hey guys, I want to make a home made kite bag.

Here are a couple of things i I want:

> To be larger than a standard bag so I don't have to pack my kite so damn tight
> Have a drawstring to open and close bag so no more frozen zippers
> To be lighter than a standard kite bag to save weight in my cargo bag when flying. I travel with up to 3 kites, so I'm carrying one and a half kilos just in kite bags.
> store a kite bar and pump somewhere

Is there anything else I'm missing?

Are there any of you our there that has done this and do you have any advice for me?

Make a simple sailor bag.

I use my hockey bag. It holds my 3 kites (5, 7, 11), two bars, pump and still has room for food and stuff. It could be better... it's a little awkward carrying it some distance cause the handles are too long and it's still plenty big. Has some big end pockets which is nice. Also has some side bags which come in handy. But it needs better handles or even better would be back pack style strap system. I'm working on that. I haul the whole thing to my set up area so I have everything right there and don't have to go back to the car. I've thought of strapping it to my golf cart but that wouldn't work in the winter.

My Fone Bandit packs easily with pants shirt and shoes to it's bag. No need to even squeeze it.

A guy on Ebay was selling very cheap kite bags out of Hong Kong... looked nice from the pics... may be worth a look.

Why do Kite manufacturers make these small tiny bags ?
Don't they know already that it's a main issue for us ?!?!? :evil:

Bungy loops for the pump, a strap and buckle or two for the bar. Hmm, you got me thinking - be a good project for the windless days.

Last time I travelled, I only took one OEM bag and put the others in trash bags. Dunno if I'd bother with the OEM bag next time... especially when I discovered the "day bag" in the front pocket :lol:

Hockey bags a good idea. Not a prob with my edges, fold both halves together, one fold in the middle and put in bag? What's the issue?
