I understand what you are saying and I have personally surfed a ton of 20 ft plus waves and those are MASSIVE waves. I stood on the cliffs at Mavericks and had a similar vantage point of guys with bigger balls than me surfing 45 foot waves and shot video of the same waves. I'm going off of the size of the rider as an average 6 foot tall man. None of the waves in that particular video are 93 foot waves. I'm not doubting that your spot gets massive waves because it certainly does but not in that video. Besides...the article, which is written in German, starts off by saying the wave was "just under 30 meters" so they are admitting that the wave is not a record and they are admitting they don't know the size of the wave.
The wave Macnamara rode was bigger than the one in this video.

BS! No where in that video is there a wave even close to 93 feet. The biggest wave in this video is around 35 feet tops.
haha.. I know, its unfair, the video and footage really doesn't do it justice.. honestly, you actually need to be there, and even then you won't believe your eyes. Realize the cliff from where its being recorded is at least 80m-100m high, so you're looking down... The pics I took here from last october are not from a 'big' day and just realize that the rock that the wave is crashing onto stands about 15-20m high. By the way that's the end point of the so called hypothetical downwinder.

gnarly..
