I just had a good session thank you I posted a picture of my bar here: www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2378240&start=10Fortunately the left black side worn out the other day and I replaced it with red EVA foam, I am so happy now I also bought some green EVA foam for the day the blue right part will go off.. OK, I might be to conservative asking for red/green as in nautical standard, but at least the red left should be made standard on our bars. Some of us don't seem to get the point, thanks to the kite instructors for showing why this would be better. Standards are good.

if your bar has a white side and u know it s the left side? then it s all ok no?
for those who want a left color as far as one side is distinctive? who cares?
i don t use the colors of my bar/lines, never used them but for launching the kite.

For me red on left ist really important, and should be standard for all bars!
When crashing I can see quickly where to grab again, and really important to land no handed rotation tricks. (Sure...will work with all color codes if used to).

If everything works right and you never crash and you always use the same bar for the last 5 years and never buy a new control bar then you don't need red on left. But when you blow a trick are upside down you lose your grip are on a brand new bar the kite's in the water and spray is everywhere, well, then you will understand why we want left bright red every bar every time.

What if you are color blind? A student asked me this once because the demo bar we had was red and green and I believe those are the two main colors men have trouble seeing with that condition.
I personally don't like my bar looking like a Christmas decoration, even though the colors balance each other out. I didn't realize how many bars actually have green or black on the right. I personally think the brightest color of the two on the bar, or white in the case of white and black should be on the left, since it seems we all agree we do look for the left side of the bar upon landing or surfacing.

Red on left is fucking stupid IMHO and makes no sense to me. I set mine up to be "Red on right". Works better for my brain.....if possible I always set my lines so that 'black is back' ( rear attachment points on kite) for pigtails or line colors too.

I was taught, black is always right.
Universal bar coding would be a nice idea but might limit artistic design.
Interesting a lot of people were told red is always left.

What's the problem with "printing" "Left" on the left, and "Right" on the right side of the bar. That would also be a solution for color-blind people.
I saw such a bar once in one of kite-schools in Poland - they used a black permanent marker (or sth similar) to write on the bar...
