Ironically enough, I have a good experience to report...with Spirit Airlines lol, the cheapest nickel and dime shop around.

For my trip to Cabarete, they charged me $100 one way for a Double Surf Board bag, no size, no weight restrictions.

I stuffed a Mako King 165x44. a Breeze 145x44, two kites and all of my gear including pump, harness, impact vest, the straps/fins, etc. and it flew.

On the way back a friend asked me to bring back his kitebaord and I threw a third board (Switch 155cm I am selling for my buddy) in there, no problem. $100 flat plus tax provided it all fits in one massive bag. Thing weighed like 105 lbs.
