I think we all realize that just because you cut off the nose of a board doesn't make it a Vanguard. I would love to try a Vanguard just don't have the money to buy a different board every time I want to try one.
I really just don't like it when everyone yells copy.
If there are boardshops who sell them in your area you should be able to demo them

Copy or not.
I have personally been on all the COPY boards from the other brands out there.
Just to feel the differences. Apples and oranges.
Not one of them feels like the real thing.
They are complete different animals .
Its like buying cheap knock offs of a high end automobile.
It will never feel like the real thing.
Thats as simple as it gets.
I'm one picky guy when it comes to the right board .
The VG does it all
The planning hull really separates it from all the other copy cats out there.
Try the real thing first and make your own judgement.
Every person that has demoed my board apart from sponsored team rider from big brands( wishing they could ride one) have made the conversion.
You feel it right away.
Get out there and get the true feeling under your feet.
Felix.

I made it this way to be stronger for my kitesurf style.
It's not a Firewire. Not supposed to be. Just love the idea of riding a 5.4 with 6.2-6.5 rails and feel.
Also can turn it as a 5.4.
Snappy or carvy.
Got 3 stringers so I have them under my heels. I ride hard and fast and 100% strapped.
Love to jump ,... thats why I got me a $450 board made that should last a while. If not, was a great effort .
So far I love it. Upwind like nothing else, rides small to medium (over head) just like a dream. That's with lots of wind on 9m and 7m kite. (hate light winds,)
Waiting for bigger swell.
here is another shot.
(get me a better cam to make better ones)

fabs i just got a vanguard 5'6", i gotta say the tail looks pretty identical, did you also do the nose V's? or W i should say
I haven't ridden mine yet, summer sucks in FL
I gotta say I have a custom board from a local shaper as my original surfboard, that board is super light, when i first got the tomo out of the box i thought it was heavy, but i know any custom board will be lighter than a production board, so if u can make a custom tomo thats lighter all the power to you man, plus that sense of pride from making your own board comes into play
i want to make an alaia soon to start out with, i keep putting it off to searching kite videos...

It's slightly diff and fin positions are further apart.
And sadly I have found a flaw in my design.
Since I have the stringer right under my heels and foot position ended up right above fin box, I landed too hard or something...I pushed the stringer down and with it the box... only minor, but sh$^#.
Custom design and RnD ... only learn from mistakes.
Guess not perfect board for 45 knot winds and massive jumps, I guess
PS: My board is pretty heavy due to carbon kevlar and stringers and dense foam (blank "brown")

They/North have totally mist the concept!
Bigger than 5.4 is WAY over, and the width?
