The youtube video is a great example of learning to ride a hydrofoil. In this video the guy is riding a Freestyle C A R A F I N O.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ztSfiFYqf4

Notice the better he begins to ride the foil the more he looks relaxed. The more relaxed you are, the less your body will be trying to over compensate for movements.

Keep your eyes looking in the direction of travel. Not down in front of you.

What is so important is to let the kite pull you from the harness and not use your arms.
Keep your shoulders to windward, Point your pelvis to leeward, keep the legs straight and breath.

As you begin to travel across the surface of the water and the board begins to rise, just lean forward and bring it back down. Find your balance between these two movements. Shoulders forward towards the nose of the board to come down slowly.

Good Luck.

C A R A F I N O

When i first tried using the surfboard, i found it difficult to turn because
by ankles are made of Stainless-Steel and there's No movement what so ever.
So at first i was pushing the rear of the board in an out to turn it ; making ugly
skidding turns ! :nono:

Then i found out how to turn the directional from my Hips , by gyrating them, and
changing my CG at the same time. Now it feels quite natural and the turns are Fast
and they don't skid the rear of the board. I NEED straps to do it though.

Could you please think about the actual mechanics of how you turn your foil ?
Could you turn a hydrofoil if you were in a set of totally rigid boots ? If so, how would
you do that ?

Before the foil lifts off the water, it rides just like a surfboard with big fins. you can do gradual big circle turns or you can just flip the board 180 degree like a twintip. The hard part is after it lifts off the water.
