You mean to say, a reporter spun the story (lied) to sensationalize it???

It's not the time to start attacking people is it?

I would urge caution Bille until someone with strong French reading skills confirms things. I've been misled before by computer translations. I get the impression from the accounts that the original "hit an run" version may have been printed in error by the reporter. Again, I would wait for this to be confirmed. Hope it is true however and again, my sympathies to all involved in this sad accident.

My main language being french,

They said that the kitesurfer reported himselft to the police station where he was questioned. He told the police that he didn't think that the accident had been so severe. He even helped afterward until the medics arrived.

So yes he was suspected of hit and run but he reported to the police station where he was release after that they concluded it was an accident.

Me 2

I read their French forum :

About the reporter..the rush to inform motivated him ? was he like the judge and executioner ?

One kiter who also windsurfs at times said that the wind was too strong of his 7m2 at that spot

The windsurfer had 30 years of experience and was retired from work almost 6 months

His windsurf friend that came first to the rescue took Patrick's head out of the water

Can you tell what actually occurred in terms of what hit the windsurfer? Kite or board etc?

good to hear the kiter went to the police!

Would be interesting to know what happened exactly.

Gives a view that a strong East wind blows offshore at that spot

Tragic, clearly.

But I urge caution. It's possible the circumstances were considerably more complex than simply a kiteboarder killing a windsurfer.

I read in French forum :

The windsurfer who died was under his sail when his friend jumped in the water to help him
He was wearing a buoyancy vest when he was rescued
His friend took his head out of the water as quickly as possible

Many of us who's windsurfed have had some scary calls pinned under the sail in good size surf
Sometimes getting stuck in the harness line to make matters worse
Sometimes swimming the long way out...along the luff of the sail

But this was in rather flat waters with strong offshore wind

What type of kiteboarding error/collision would make a windsurf rider fall backward ?

Was he in shock after collision and during the water-starting of his sail to get back on board...
....something happened to him physically and he remained underneath the sail ?

Il est difficile d'apporter des conclusions à ce tragique accident.

Une enquête est en cours ,

Sincères condoléances à toute la famille et amis de Patrick
