Correction: bar always within reach when torso bent forward....prefer not to spin bar on pulley.
Perhaps I will put the stopper back on right before the pulley.

My kites don't move to one side and relaunch themselves, I have to be able to touch the bar to do that.

sometimes the kite is still in the air when you crash, sorry for the confusion

Slingshot decided to name one of their stopper ball systems a Choad.

In slang terms, it has been known as two things, and can be spelled choad or chode.
1. The spot below your balls and before your anus.
2. A penis that is so short that it is wider than it is long.

Re-installed stopper...turns out it didn't allow significant throw considering I tend to depower REVs a lot to avoid heavy bar pressure. Thanks again.
:decision:

REVs don't really have heavy bar pressure.
I think maybe you would get good results from:
-setting you bar throw to something normal that fits your arm length.
-don't depower your kite to the point of screwing up the performance of the kite and messing up the bar throw.
-fly the right sized kite for the day, set a little depower if needed but don't go overboard.
-edge your board to control your kite in a gust.

With like, 3m of bar throw available on the OR Freeride bar, I set the stopper to where it is that the kite just starts to luff when the bar is all the way out. Depends on the wind... but it's usually easily within my reach. If it's not, it probably means I need to trim the kite :D
