Are you talking about polyester ?

Gonna need to say something on that one :

Polyester should only be used in flat-bottom row-boats ; but
only in small ponds where there's no wind and you could walk
to shore if it breaks.

Polyester is what surfboard sharpers use, when there too Cheap
to lay down the money for Epoxy !!

The molecular weight-chains
that make up Epoxy are Much tighter than poly, but you can get
most any flex-ratio you want with epoxy , (from G-Flex to aircraft grade)
and everything in-between ; if your willing to do your
homework.

If you want your board to Flex, then build the blank Thinner ;
(stiffness increases by the Cube of the thickness).

We have been making custom epoxy boards for over 8 years now.. Poly would never hold up to the beating that the new surf riders are pulling big airs. We have one rider that has been on the same board for the last year and a half and says the board still looks like new with no heal dents. ( yes we built it alittle heavier then norm but it has lasted and he still loves it)

On a normal surfboard construction they just don't hold up to the big airs. The pros get more boards then we build a year , if they break it they just get a new one.

We build any shape any size. From carbon to wood topsheets

Firewire have some sick production kite surfboards. A lot of guys around here that are not on customs are on Slingshots...

Firewire would my first pick if I didn't build boards http://www.firewiresurfboards.com/

good luck on your hunt... if you have any questions feel free to send me a PM

OK nobody else is biting so I'll go first.

Any major brand Bamboo surfboard would do. Naish, Slingshot, FOne, North (although I heard North 2013 bamboo is not very strong, they say they are better in 2014. I have 2011 North Whip bamboo and it's a goddam tank! I love it). Do a search, many people give Naish top marks for durability.

Flex is really bad on bamboo boards and WHO THE HELL CARES if you are beginner or intermediate... flex will only matter if you are very good level expert over good quality waves.
Otherwise, just enjoy the durability of bamboo.

Over and out.
