Todays update.

Bonner Bridge could open by next week if dredged sand deposited around exposed pilings compacts well.
Crews conducted underwater sonar surveys and divers took a closer look Wednesday around bent 166, a bridge section south of the high-rise, according to a release sent late Wednesday from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Results of the inspection will be announced Thursday, but initial indications were better than expected, said Allen Burrus, a Dare County commissioner.
The bridge could open within a week or as late as March, said state District I engineer Jerry Jennings.
