kitesurfing (off sorts) in a swimming pool

Postby JMDPK » Sat Dec 14, 2013 12:30 pm

Have not posted here for many years.
But was trying to introduce my 12 yr old to kitesurfing.

Had a brainwave which actually worked.
We have access to an outdoor 25m pool - that is not shut at night (when it was empty)

Got some extention ropes and was able to run around the pool - and pull my son onto a plane
(using a 136cm board)
He loved it..
Kind of painfull that a 12yr learns a water start within 10mins... compared with my learning curve.

Anyway - it seemed like a good way to introduce a grommet to the idea of counter balancing weight against a towing line.
Has any one else tried it?
Kind of a poor mans wake cable park.

Haha. That's how I learned how to paddle and pop up on a surfboard when I was like 8 or 9. I support your idea :thumb:

My brother and I taught our younger sister to water ski like this, sometime in the late 70's - I am now searching for the evidence...
