In general slingshot users know that Rallys have a better low end than rpm's of the same size.

I was cheking the 2014 wind charts and notice that the 12M rpm technically have a better low end than the Rally for 1 or 2 knots using the same size bar 20"x23M and the 9M Rpm have a better low end than the Rally using a smaller bar (17"x20M vs 20"x23M)?

Are 2014 rpm's 12M and 9M bigger than 12M and 9M Rallys and bigger than 12M and 9M 2013 rpms?

For me in the pictures 2014 Rpm's looks bigger than 2013 Rpm's

Does anyone have the opportunity to test and check the sizes of the 2014 12M or 9M Rpm vs Rally?

Thanks

That is interesting, I was convinced that the rally had more bottom end.

In the past slingshot have been known for there misleading kite sizes. Especially with the rpm

Also how do they come up with these numbers. Is it done from the r and d team or do they come up with numbers that make the kite look good?

I'm going to buy a 9 M slingshot it can be a rpm or rally.

If the wind table arevright the 9M rpm looks a better choice,
Better low end with smaller bar.

I have a 2014 10M rally and the kite have a great low end
But I want to change it for a 9M that can be more faster.

It would be interesting to compare the real sizes of 2014 9 M rpm vs 2014 9M rally.

Hi see what you mean with the charts but very much doubt the Rpm would have a better bottom end in any size than the Rally would have thought it would be the exact opposite , due to the Delta design having more grunt at the bottom end and the Rpm having better top end have a look at the Real watersports review of the new 2014 Rpm and they pretty much confirm the rally would have more low end grunt unless there are sizing variations i.e the 9 Rpm is more like a 10m cant see that being the case , would trust the charts either .

Funny thing is I was *just* looking at the SS wind charts trying to decide if I should migrate my Rallys to RPMs and found this thread.... :thumb:
Two questions;

(1) The 12M RPM wind range caught my eye as well. I am very happy with the wind range of my 2014 12M Rally, however, it is slower than I like. (As has been discussed the 2011/2012 Rallys were much faster.)
I was wondering if the 12M RPM will be more agile than the 12M Rally...without giving up low end?

Has anyone ridden the two...or even just the new RPM who can comment?

(2) Size selection...I have a 7M RPM and have gotten blown off the water on it. Think I'll get much more high end out of a 6?
I'd be moving from a 7/9/12 quiver to a 6/9/12 quiver...or maybe 6/8/12? 180 lbs. I'd like to fly from 12mph to 35mph.
I used to have a 6M Rally, and at that time the jump from 6 to 10 was too big...I'd be underpowered on one and lit on the other. So, I'm also questioning the spread with RPMs.

I always find that it is better to have your small kite sizes closer together than your big kite sizes...but there are 3 sizes now between 8 and 12...seems like a big jump. On the chart it looks okay.

Thanks!

Can't compare to RPM, but have a 6-8-12 combi. Works perfect for me (95 kg) with surfboards and ok with twintips. With twintips only I would probably do 6-9-12 (find 9 a bit to slow for surfboard, while 8 has a good low-end).

2 kite quiver: 12-8 or 10-7.

I flew both, the 2014 Rally and RPM in 12m. The bottom end of the rally is for sure better and you can jump higher and easier in same windspeeds. The 12m Rally is a kite that needs no turning for going early for everybody. On the other hand the RPM is more fun to me, because it´s double as fast, the kite wants to be turned to get going and feels not like a truck, more sporty. Jumping needs better technical skills with the RPM, then it gets fast up and faster down then with the Rally. Barpressure is half as with the Rally, I like that. I would say for going in waves with a 12m kite you need the RPM, the Rally is too slow turning. Another difference is that the Rally has always power on the bar, the RPM can be flown with almost no power in high winds (if you want to).

I do have the 9m also in both versions, but did have no chance to test both in same conditions. Rally 9m is a fun-machine for mega-high jumps and turning very good also for waveboards, but I think high-end will be much less as with a RPM.

So is it right that a 10m RPM will have about the same range as a 9m Rally and turn a bit faster? (If both 2014's)

Lots of guys around here have Rallys. And from what i have seen they have very good low end. Usually some of the last guys out when the wind drops.
