The top riders of the Best Trick contest were decided today for the Nitro City Kite and Cable Challenge at the Kiteboard World Cup Panama.

With the Freestyle competition completed and the freestyle champions of the first world tour stop of 2014 crowned, today riders had the morning to rest after the prior nights celebrations. In front of a packed weekend crowd, the first day of the second discipline got underway today in 12-18 knots of wind.
Combining kiteboarding and cable wakeboarding, the Nitro City Kite and Cable Challenge provides riders the opportunity to showcase their kite and wakeboard skills in the first ever PKRA kite and cable completion. In this dual sport contest format, the sum the scores from today’s kiteboarding Best Trick contest will be added with the scores from tomorrows Cable contest to decide to ultimate winners.
The Best Trick contest format today had riders throwing their biggest maneuvers during seven-minute heats in hopes of achieving the highest score. From each heat, the two competitors with the highest scoring tricks advanced to a semi-final until only eight men and four women remained.
Today’s action saw impressive riding from all competitors and a noteworthy four out of five Dominican riders that competed, made it into the top eight. In the onshore winds, riders were able to throw their tricks very close to the beach putting on a spectacular show with some massive tricks landed.
With $5000 purse on the line, the Nitro City Kite and Cable Challenge will wrap up tomorrow, wind or no wind, at the Nitro City cable park beginning at 2:00pm following a 1:30 riders pm meeting.
