I also have the split board M and L sizes and ride the M hard as a eveyday board with no issues. As a habit before a session I make sure pins are all the way in usually by pushing them against a tree or sign post pretty much anything hard that wont damage the rail its very hard to do otherwise just by hand but once they're in they require some effort to take out definitely not coming out while riding. Same problem, need a tree or rock to get in, not very convenient. Either of you having top coat issues? Mines rubbed off pretty significantly on the black portions and I can't get flysurfer to do anything about it.
Tree or post does the job. But, if you dip the pin in some silicone lube once every 5 sessions or so, you might not need to force it. Have both M and L and used them about a dozen times. So far no issues.
Finally got some pictures of what's happening to my Flysplit. Still getting the run around from Flysurfer about it which is unusual since they have always been great with warranty work. Opinions,tips on something I can do now to fix this myself/prevent it from getting worse?
It is probably strictly cosmetic, but for such a fancy board, it should look better.
Looks like a sprayed top coat of polyurethane or polyester not sticking to the layer beneath it.
For whatever reason, it seems companies are not usually eager to address this issue when it comes up. Which it does, now and then.
It may be a quality control issue from the top coat coming out more brittle than the resin underneath it, or from contamination during the build. Like if they wiped the board down with the wrong solvent before topcoating...
Another likely cause I can think of for this kind of appearance is someone using a chemical or solvent on the board that is too harsh for the finish.
Or flexing it way too much, like driving over it or something.
I have seen similar appearance on cars with a polyurethane clearcoat when they received overzealous attention from detailers.
