I'm an intermediate kitesurfer and would like to progress to a wave board without spending a fortune. I have seen the LF Kite Fish and Nobile Infinity boards. Both are 5' 3" and available for around £300 so within my budget.

Can anyone give me some guidance as to suitability etc of these boards please ?

Thanks Nick

Can't say which is best but can say the 4 twin tips I have from Nobile have been all amazing. Awesome quality and out performed any other board I've tried including all the Shin and crazy fly boards. Also my friend had one 3 years old and some part was delaminating and they gave him a new board no questions asked. Amazing company and will be buying more from them in the future.

I've never ridden the Nobile Infinity but I'm pretty sure it's a true surfboard and costs about the same as a real surfboard.

The LF Kitefish is not a surfboard, it's more of a thick giant skimboard with fins. It can be had for about $280 in the US (surfboards are about $800).

The Kitefish while easy to learn the basics of strapless on becomes junk afterwards. The Nobile board doesn't look that easy to learn strapless on, but once you learn will be much better.

My reccomendation for learning strapless is the Slingshot SP, you can get them very cheap if you go for the wakesurf construction (about $400 vs. the kite construction $800).

Agree with slappy. Lf is not a wave board. If a regular board is out of your range right now looks for a decent used one. Or even a used tuflite.

I've got the slingshot SP (wake construction) and very happy with it. I paid $340 for it on an end of season deal. It's lasted me probably 40 sessions so far with no damage. I'm 75 kg.

How much do you weigh and where are you located? If you are light and on the coast then you can probably pick up a regular surfboard on craigslist for around $100-$150. You will probably break it eventually, but who cares at that price! If you are just starting out, not doing strapless airs you should easily get a year our of it. If you are heavier though, you might break it right away.

I picked up a $100 surfboard in the fall that needed $20 worth of repairs. It's 5'7" x 17.5" and I really like, but haven't ridden it much yet, so don't know how long it will last.

Hi guys thanks for the replies...I am in the uk weigh 83kg and am 5' 11". I can buy last years infinity for £300 (same as the fish) but it is a 5' 3" board so not sure if the size will be suitable for me give my size and experience. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks

Nobile's site doesn't seem to list the width of their board but it looks like more of a Gun. They also only list a 5'7" and 6'1" size for the Infinity.

I would stay away from the 5'3" especially for learning. Once you are competent that 5'3" might make a decent high wind surfboard though.

A wide surfboard will make learning strapless much easier, that's why the SP is so good at 21.5" but only 5' long. I would guess that the Infinity is about 19" wide.
