Any kite will do this if left sitting on the beach flapping in the wind. It happens worse on some kites than others. This is a good example and reason to not leave an inflated kite sitting on the beach, especially in strong wind.

It's called cracking. The sail will eventually start to get tiny pin holes where the cracking is occuring. They will all do this with enough use but on the trailing edge it is because it was left on the beach flapping against the sand as Bain stated. You'll notice the material is less crisp where this is occuring, and feels more cloth like.

That is a classic issue with RPMs till 2013 and the reason why the 2014 model has the extra dacron triangles at the trailing edge. Eventually the trailing edge will come off and the kite is broken. You will need to either tape or repair it.

Cheers

What do you think about reinforce trailing edge ?Will it solve this problem and make the kite better and last longer?

To be honest the material has already been damaged. What will eventually happen is the trailing edge will just fall off. Best to not let it flap on the beach at all to prolong the life of the kite.

I have a similar issue with my 10m 2013 rpm, though the damage is not as severe as yours. I have noticed that the trailing edge flaps with an incredible speed when it is upside down being walked to the beach / launch zone and believe this is when the main damage is done, so I try not to walk too far with it and when on the beach will weigh down the trailing edge with shingle / sand. I have also sprayed the fabric with a UV spray which does a good job of hiding the cracks but probably does nothing in terms of strengthening the material. The only real way of dealing with the problem is to get it repaired or nurse it until such time that you can get hold of the 2014 version.
