So i made my first hydrofoil and it works okay came out much heavier than expected due to lots of epoxy/ fiberglass and thicker wood than necessary. I'm building a new lighter board with thinner wood and am wondering how many layers of carbon and of what type of carbon- for each of the fuselage, mast and wings. Newbie here at board building and it'd be my first project using carbon . Appreciate any help i can get ! :)

I think that there is no universal solution. Each project has its own features. Now I also decides on carbon parts.

Hello Daripah,
Saw you foil pics! great job!
how was the expeience.
from what i read at the french hydrofoil fórum is that there is a guy called Frank....
who is building foil for long years.
one of his threads talks about his method alternating layers of fiberglass and carbón.
this would make it cheap and strong.
something about 6 layers on each side. 3 carbón an 3 glass
1 layer +-45 fibeglass 18 oz, 1 layer of unicarbon 8 oz., and so on.
check his posts on frech part in mast construction.
I calculated some what of 100 dolars for a mast in material.
1 meter of carbón, 1 meters of 18oz fiberglass,
cheers!

Thanks windfreak. You're foil looks really nice too! I'm still learning so it's hard to tell how well my design will work, but I'm getting there! Today it was blowing around 25kts and I finally got to experience my foil properly and I was quite impressed. Hard to tell if it was me or my foil but as soon as I started edging up Wind while above the water the board would throw me forward or backwards. Somehow as soon as I lift off it feels necessary to edge upwind in order to maintain balance . This is probably all just part of the learning curve so I'm mostly sharing for others getting into hydrofoil but I'll take any advise I can get
