Very impressive to maintain that speed over open water for an hour.
If anyone has more details please post.

Agreed,

I have only hit ~32kts for short periods of time on my regular twin tip and felt like I was riding on the edge of my comfort zone.. To hold that speed for an hour, is unimaginable to me. I would be interested to hear what kite and board he was using as well as conditions.

impressive to say the least!
Pros will allways push the limits of the sport!
i have 7 herniated discs that tell me i probably will never achieve that! :o
What would be an average speed for long distace cruising on a foil?
how much energy does it take compared to racing board or tt riding ?

Thx,

I saw that. I was looking for a little more detail. Model of kite. Standard board or any modifications. Maybe some other details on what gear may have helped them endure those speeds for that long.

I dont think it requires ANY energy at all - but lots of talent :thumb:

You can cruise huge distances with no effort at all, on a hydrofoil - even when there is 1 meter chop waves, you just cruise along at high speed, feeling "nothing" but joy (no impacts whatsoever - amazing)

For high speed long distance you need a smaller foil (less drag) than for up/downwind racing in light wind, but you still have very low forces as far as I can tell from myself and theory (as I can not ride THAT fast  )

But requires skill and balls, as if you crash, you SPLASH :naughty:
