Naish Fly in action

Postby WindS4 » Fri Jul 18, 2014 4:38 pm

Ended up getting a Naish Fly for light wind. Demoed a few others, then just went w a last years FLY. Its pretty impressive, I can ride in 8 -11 knots…At 14-16 knots I am way overpowered. I weight 170ish...Finally took out GoPro other day….Tried to have the GoPro video our local anemometer afterwards, & the guy at our local spot confirmed 8-11 knots. You can see it relaunch in this vid. and when I crash, board goes nowhere…super light conditions. Big board, & small board, its got power.
Full disclosure.. I tried to launch it in 5-7 knots the other day... did not happen…I feel any light wind kite really needs 8…

What bar and line lenght are you using? Are these 24 meter lines? And what is the high-end of this kiet for you? And last is this the 2014 model?

It's a nice kite. I have the 2012-13 version, first gen. But I need 10 knots to get going on Florida chop with a Stylus 145. And I'm 150lbs. Really start having fun with 12knots and a shorter board. I used to ride a Cabrinha Tronic 140 That was a fun board for this kite.

I keep it up to 15-16knots. Turns fast for a 15m.
I use it with 20m lines when I'm lit. Or put the 10m extensions to make them 30m long when it's light.

Yes, the one in the video is a 2014.

This one is the second generation Blue, the original was green. The newer one has a thinner leading edge I guess? I am using 24 meter lines, as I find that this kite and most kites turn too slow with 27 and 30 meter lines. 24 is the sweet spot for me.
