I know its like 4 generations back, but i got an original Flyboard radical. Was about the pull trigger on a rad 4 at a price that inlcudes shipping to australia, but just happened to see this one on the buy and sell. What should I expect? Damn straight edge, not much flex, and little rocker...lol

Righto let you know. By the looks of it there was quite a quantum jump between 2009 and 2010, then an even greater one after 2012 (the foam/wood core mix), but hey it looks like a bloody unbreakable square rail so that's all that matters on my 18m dyno at 73kg!! Getting spanked at 14 knots on my 135??lol

Hey Toby you supplying and grab rail thingies through airstyle TV as yet?

Have emailed macisback about his venture into making his own.

West, I had the 2009 - 2010 in my hands way back lol.

The weight is almost the same 2009 was a little more. Pads looked the same (love the pads)

I once told Toby the 2010 was to heavy (when I first got it) and he informed me that I was a pussy.

Then he bought a 2011 (lighter board) not sure who's the pussy.....

Now that I got use to it, for me the 2010 is a great weight. At 16-18kns on the 19m kite the board stays its course and does not change directions due to wind. If your going to do a tic-tac-flip..... the first week using this board go to the gym first lol.

The board is stiff and you need to kick it hard. I loves it.....

I use the OR2 and the 128 and I can hold the 19m in 20kns + @ 80k

It will kick water up when your in chop carving up wind. I think the 2009 kicks a ton.

Ta for the info. Yeh spray does is mentioned a fair bit (and looking at the design I can see why) and seemed to be the target of design change for 2010. Weight is not an issue, it weighs pretty much the same as my 2014 laluz, 135 by 41 which tic tacs are no probs, but the smaller axis of rotation will be welcomed. I've tried light boards for tic tacs and flips and a lot of time they just fly away from you...!!!...and I need all the help I can get!

Flysurfer has said they have run out of meduim rad 4s, if they still had them I'd get one tomorrow. Ridden a ton of boards and I like the design profile of this board for what I do. No representation is Australia unfortunately...

Toby that's good news about the grips. I've had my handles made up but I'm willing to look at what you guys come up with.

Got out today on the board in the ocean with choppy sections, some swell rolling in with. Nice flatfish patch coming across a shallow bank that has formed.

Spray wasn't an issue board likes to be ridden a little flat until load and release time so that was quickly worked out. Pretty stiff but not uncomfortable infact those straps and pads are awesome.

Can slide the board out when you want but once that long square rail is dug in there's no breaking it even under some pretty intense loads in those winter squalls.

Yeh still feels like a 2009 board tech wise under foot but it does the job.

As heavy as my 135 by 41 laluz if not a tad more but the axis of rotation is much smaller so tic tacs and flips seem somewhat easier to me.

But more importantly and can keep up a bigger kite. When guys are changing down to their 7s and 9S the 12 stays up and at only 73kg some of the blokes were a good 20kg more than me.
Nice board for the cheap price. Stoked.

Okay last one. Got out today on nearly the same wind strength as when on my 12, but on the 16m dyno. Basically I was fully depowered(which isn't a great deal as I give my self a long throw)...actually while we are at it...another good thing about the 2011 dyno which I never knew it flies just as awesome fully depowered...bizarre...

Anyhow same winds, more cross shore though which created more chop, harder to navigate the swell and to find some flat spots to load and boost...but there were some.

Bang this rail was unbreakable. Gets you height and hang. Almost remined me of the edge days (not quite, but far more predictable for board offs).

Sweet session, only make me greedy for more power. Next time it's the 18!!!!

Pussy "Basically I was fully depowered"
Long ways to go mate! Maybe next year it will read " So basically I was full power riding with the 7m kites checking out the upper atmosphere"

What harness are you using?

It's a great board.... I keep trying other boards but..... nothing. The pads are crazy good. We have a couple of freestyle guys here that had ordered them after riding with mine.

2009-10-11 pads are the best. They changed the 2012-13 pads to the lace type. Done know about the new ones.

If you bust this board.... I fell out of the truck on the way to the beach.....don't lie.... lol

I'll take you a lip of mine it look like shit.... but gets the job done.

Haha thanks for your words of encouragement. In my indefensible defence, I'm talking about a winter squalls here with large wind gusts, in a wave spot with some insane currents and weird chop formed and I'm only 73kg, hence the depowering was a safety margin. Most guys 15 to 20 kg heavier were on 9 and 12s, and they said with oodles of power. When the flat water opens up for us on the estuary side when our seasons starts to kick in I'm sure the depower won't be touched as I tend not to touch the depower at all normally. Plus I don't have much depower left as I ride with a lot of throw...gives you more to yank down on in the release!!!

Your last two sentences....I don't really get what you are saying?

Pads and straps are awesome, agreed. Now for some grab rails and a handle to go with my other boards.

Hey anyone have a medium they want to get rid of....??? :D
